Advanced Women’s Residency Program
From the Ground UP is currently looking for submissions for their exciting pilot program an Advanced Residency Program. This pilot program will be a 10 week residency program for any female identifying person in the second half of their life (or ages 50yrs and above). This program will give 4-6 participants the opportunity to train with several professional female artists from around the state in several different mediums within the world of the performing arts. Workshops may include Improv, Movement for the Performer, Songwriting, Storytelling and Design. Utilizing these skills, with the support of From the Ground UP’s Artistic Director and Assistant Program Director, each resident will create and perform a solo piece in a public performance at the end of the program.
*This program will also offer the opportunity to attend local arts events, dance, theater, music, comedy that are created and performed by women.
Note the program has a value of $1,500 but thanks to support from Ronni Lacroute and Lagunitas we will be offering this opportunity at a sliding scale, making sure each resident can participate at a cost that is reachable for their means. Weekly meetings begin Thursday, January 17th. Weekly meetings Thursdays 10am-1pm and Saturdays 2-5pm with a studio showcase March 30th & 31st. These weekly meetings will include workshops and open studio time to develop new work.
Anyone who identifies as female and identifies as being in the second half of their life and/or is age of 50 yrs old and above. This program is open to anyone interested who meets the above qualifications. NO EXPERIENCE is necessary and you DO NOT need to be a ‘actor/actress to participate. If you are interested in exploring the world of storytelling and the performing arts and would like to share your story and worldview with your community this program is for YOU!
This program aims to give women in the second half of their life in the Portland community an opportunity to craft and perform solo performance piece. Performance themes will center on participants lived experiences and the social themes surrounding women. This program is in response to the particular need to amplify female voices in our social climate.
