Here at From the Ground UP the year has kicked off with a bang! All three of our programs are in full swing. We are both humbled and honored to be sharing the room with the nine incredible women who make up both of this year’s residencies. They have begun to embark on the daunting task of exploring their stories and the ways in which they might bring them to the stage. Since January both our Advanced Women's Residency and our Young Women’s Residency have been taking workshops with our incredible team of guest artists and working with Deborah Jenson the Assistant Program Director, our development intern Avery Kester, and myself on what will become their solo pieces. The honesty, engagement, and exploration of their stories has been astounding to observe. It is such a joy and an honor to bear witness to such a process and we are so grateful to you, our community, for ensuring that this important work gets to continue.

As we head into the spring and further into our programming, we would like to invite you to join us in sharing in these stories and the early stages of their development. This coming March we will be launching our Spring Forward Fundraiser. To kick off this year’s fundraising initiative we will be hosting an intimate evening of of stories, music, wine, and dessert at the Jupiter Hotel. The evening’s program will include a sharing of developing work from both our Advanced and Young Women’s Residencies. A little taste of Tonight Nothing a new play created by Merideth Kaye Clark and myself that will be performed this summer at CoHo Productions. Lastly, a short musical performance from Merideth Kaye Clark herself. There will be wine, desert, and time to mingle and meet our residents, guest artists, and the incredible administrative team that makes all this possible. All of the event’s proceeds will go directly towards supporting these programs and will help us continue this work in the months and years to come. The event details are below; if you would like to support us but can’t make the event you can make a direct donation at our website.
