Fall Residency

Intro

Our Intro Artists Residency, the first in our three part sequence, is offered every fall. This 10-week residency will give participants the opportunity to dive deep into their lived stories, explore their own intimate narratives and transform them into art.

Led by Artistic Director Katherine Murphy Lewis and Program Director Jacquelle Davis each resident will receive the training, community and individual support needed to realize their unique creative vision. Modeled after our illustrious Young Women’s Residency Program, this residency gives participants the basics in new work creation and the structure to develop a ‘Raw Draft’, aka a collection of new material that gravitates around a central theme.

Incoming residents will engage in workshops, structured feedback sessions, one-to-one sessions with our Artistic Director while drawing upon a dynamic and inspiring cohort of other artists and makers. Whether you are focused on theater, dance, photography or a multimedia piece, this 10-week residency will give you the tools and support needed to bring vision, focus and key foundational elements into your work and creative process.

WHAT:

This Intro Residency uses an innovative approach, combining Katherine’s background in autobiographical performance, physical theater, storytelling, new art development and production to offer a one-of-a-kind experience. Participants move through a series of exercises from physical exploration and research and development, to writing, construction, and editing. Participants leave with a ‘Raw Draft’ of solo material and a basic tool box of innovative ways to approach and create new art. Ideal for anyone wanting to create risky new art and who want to reclaim agency over their creative lives — and anyone else who has a story to tell!

(NOTE: This program will have both in-person and Zoom sessions.)

In addition to weekly sessions residents will be invited to participate in monthly Monday Night workshops with Visiting Artist from a variety of disciplines. Workshop Selections will be posted September 1st.

WHEN:

September 17th-November 21st, 2023

Sessions will be held Tuesdays 11am to 2pm OR Sundays 11am-2pm.

New residents will select which time slot works best for their schedule.
