From the Ground Up is the region’s only women/femme-centered art incubation organization, pairing a deinstitutionalized, process-oriented creative model with integrated wraparound support and serving artists ages 18 to 79+ regardless of professional background, economic status, or formal training. Rather than curate credentials, FTGU cultivates the voices that our community most needs to hear.
Now in its tenth year of artist residency programming, FTGU elevates sidelined voices, sparks essential community dialogue, and champions the creation of stories that are too often overlooked. By bringing these stories to the forefront, and by centering the artists behind them, the organization creates spaces that empower, challenge norms, invite the unusual, and forge new pathways that uplift individuals and communities.
